The Colts are in the hunt for a big name wide receiver, according to owner Jim Irsay. Irsay has been implying over Twitter that the team is searching for a talented pass catcher to help out young signal caller Andrew Luck.
There have been rumors of Jeremy Maclin possibly being on the move over the last year or two, and his contract is up at the end of next season. It could be wise for the Eagles to get something out of him rather than to let him walk.
Maclin has been a good receiver in Philadelphia but, he hasn’t had the breakout season that the Eagles were hoping for when they picked him at No. 19 overall in 2009.
Maclin has yet to produce a 1,000 yard receiving season and can’t seem to stay healthy. In Indianapolis, he wouldn’t have to play under as much pressure as he has in Philadelphia.
A receiving corps with Reggie Wayne, Jeremy Maclin, Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener would be one of the best in the NFL. Andrew Luck had a tendency to throw some picks in his rookie year, but the addition of Jeremy Maclin would help him along. Maclin has great speed and has the ability to go deep if necessary.
A speedster like Maclin and a veteran presence like Wayne can do wonders for Andrew Luck. If Irsay can pull this trade off, the Colts would be huge winners of the deal.
