The Philadelphia Eagles are in pursuit of another dual-threat quarterback, according to Darin Gantt of NBCsports.com.
The Eagles are heavily interested in Florida State signal caller E.J. Manuel. Manuel was a solid quarterback for the ‘Noles last season, boasting 23 TD’s and just under 3400 yards in the air.
Manuel is a physical freak, as he stands 6 foot 5 and weighs 240 pounds. If the Birds can snag him, it will be tough for guys like Jason Pierre-Paul and DeMarcus Ware to bring him to the ground.
With his mobility, he’s a guy that Chip Kelly would love in his high flying offense. And, he’s much less of a risk than Geno Smith, who is probably not worthy of the number 4 overall pick. Philly can probably nab Manuel with their 2nd round pick with no worries.
Training camp in Lehigh this fall could get interesting, as the Eagles currently contain 4 quarterbacks on the roster. They could easily add one more with the addition of Manuel, and he could give Mike Vick, Nick Foles, Dennis Dixon and G.J. Kinne a run for their money.
Stay tuned to see if Philly grabs the mobile brute this weekend. For now, follow me on twitter at @BrentKaiserman.
